Muriel G. "Murly" Hinkley

Muriel "Murly" Genevieve Hinkley, 88 of 572 Martin Avenue, Fond du Lac, passed away surrounded by family and close friends, on Saturday, May 20, 2006, at St. Agnes Hospital.She was born on March 17, 1918, which always made her "Irish". She loved shamrocks and anything to do with St. Patrick's Day. She was born in Fond du Lac to Herman J. and Marjorie F. Friedel. On May 31st, 1937 she married Arthur G. Hinkley in Fond du Lac, who preceded her in death.Arthur and Muriel owned Hink's Dew Drop Inn Tavern which went well with her ability to "always have a story or joke for you". She was a bookkeeper for 25 years at S.S. Kresge's until the store closed, and she was transferred to Kmart.Murly was a member of Holy Family Church "“ St. Joseph's site and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a 55 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #270 and was active up until the time of her death. Her accomplishments with the Eagles included: 25 year State Secretary; first 10-year State Secretary in the auxiliary to be named a State Past President based upon her record of service; President of FDL auxiliary; Great Lakes Regional President; received the Eagles State Merit Award in 1975; inducted into the FDL Hall of Fame and the State Hall of Fame; and was awarded the State Mother of the Year, an award that was very fitting for her, because she was considered to be a "second mom" or grandma to many who knew her. She was also President of Trades and Labor.She is survived by a son, Jerome "Jerry" Hinkley and his wife Janet of Chicago, IL; a granddaughter, Lisa Hinkley (Fiancé Brent Billows) of Lansing, MI; and a sister, Joyce Johnson of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and many special friends from the Eagles, Creative Care Options, Community Alternatives, and others that she met throughout her long and joyful life.She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Florence Raddatz and a brother-in-law Arnold Raddatz.



The visitation will be on Thursday, May 25, 2006 from 2:30PM to 6:30PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The Eagles memorial will be at 5:30PM. The funeral service will be at 6:30PM on Thursday at the funeral home with Deacon Larry Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
