Patsy I. Rice

Patsy I. Rice, 86, of Fond du Lac, Wis., passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Artisan Memory Care. During her final weeks as a hospice patient, Patsy was heartened by visits from a steady stream of friends and family, and she was delighted to meet a new great grandson. A hard-working, selfless and devoted mother of four children, Patsy liked to fish and play cards, sing holiday songs and dance the polka. She was a lifelong resident of Wisconsin. She was born in Berlin, Wis. on March 7, 1929, a daughter of John (Lois) Lloyd. She grew up on a farm and left high school after her junior year to help support the farm after her father was injured in an accident. She also worked at the family’s farm produce stand. She married Gordon Elmer Rice in Berlin on September 7, 1947, and the couple moved to Fond du Lac, where Patsy worked as a seamstress for Ahern’s Clothing.



She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her grandson, Cary Bergman; sisters, Audrey Ottman and Donna Fude; and brothers-in-law, Harry Lloyd Chase, Duwayne Lenz, and Len Fude.



She is survived by daughter Carol Bergman (Tom) of North Fond du Lac; sons, Patrick Rice (Paula) of St Louis, Mo.; Mike Orvold (Gina Whitty) of Fond du Lac; and Wayne Orvold (Annette) of Fond du Lac; eight grandchildren, Tom Bergman (Shelia); Corey Bergman; Jennifer Haxton (Jayson); Kyle Rice (Sarah); Lisa Frischer (Mike); Dominic Zabel; Alexis Orvold; and Madison Orvold; ten great-grandchildren, Caitlin Bergman; Alyssa Bergman and Brendon Bostwick; William Martin and Nick Haxton; Nate, Bella, Jake and Sadie Rice; and Eddie Frischer. Her siblings Alice Chase, Beverly Lenz and Harold Lloyd (Barbara), brother-in-law, Harold Ottman also survive her.



In lieu of flowers, dance a polka; and, if you wish to, you may honor Patsy with a donation to a charity of your choice.



Visitation for Patsy will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Steve Huff officiating. Burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery, Fond du Lac.
