Raymond J. RitgerRaymond J. Ritger, 83, of the Town of Mountain, WI, died peacefully at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, Sunday, March 26, 2006, after a two year spirited battle with cancer. He was born August 24, 1922, in the Town of Addison, WI, to the late Alphonse and Mary (nee Wenninger) Ritger. He farmed the homestead farm starting from his marriage in 1944 to Rita Ann Schneider until 1973. They then moved to a farm in the Town of Fond du Lac. Rita preceded him in death in 1990. He retired in 1999 to live full-time in Mountain. He is a graduate of St. Mathias School in Nabob, WI. Ray was a member of the Crooked Lake Lions Club, a board member of Wisconsin American Mutual Insurance Company, a member of St. Michael's Parish in Suring, WI, and a former member of Our Risen Savior Parish in Woodhull. He is best described as a self-made man with a great love of life, an avid fisherman, winemaker, and gardener. He enjoyed his great circle of friends. In West Bend he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of St. Mathias Parish in Nabob, sold Funk's seed corn, and did custom farm work. Surviving are three daughters, Kathleen Kouzmanoff (Robert M. Wallace) of Shorewood, WI, Irene Schneider (Frederick) of Eldorado, and Janet Miller of Fond du Lac (Fiancé' Paul Anderson of Oshkosh), two sons, Russell J. Ritger of Casa Grande, AZ, and Thomas G. Ritger of West Bend, four grandchildren, Carrie Ann (Steve) Loew of New Lisbon, WI, Andrea (Brian) Rahlf of West Bend, Eric Ritger of Chicago, SSG Bruce Jason (Jennifer) Hills of Minot, ND, and four great-grandchildren, Cassandra Loew, Zachary Loew, Bruce Tyler Hills, and Ashley Lynn Hills. He is further survived by two sisters, Florence Ritger of West Bend, and Sr. Lorraine Marie Ritger O.S.F. of Milwaukee, one brother, Roman (Elaine) Ritger of West Bend, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. His parents, wife, two brothers, Walter and Leo Ritger, and three sisters, Olive Dricken, Eleanor Dornacker, and Rosie Wild preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. Raymond J. Ritger will be on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI 54935 and on Thursday, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Our Risen Savior Church in Woodhull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, at 11 am at the church. The Rev. John Simon will officiate and burial will be in the St. John The Baptist Cemetery in Woodhull. A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Ritger's name.
