Raymond M. Burleton

Raymond M. Burleton, 87, of Oakfield died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 17, 1922 in Oak Center, the son of Rollin and Eunice Haddy Burleton. On August 23, 1947 Ray married Rosalie M. Perry at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2000. He was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church where he was an usher. Ray was a radio operator serving in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1942 to 1946. He joined the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department in 1958 as a radio operator. Throughout his 44 year career with the department he held several positions including, Chief Deputy, Detective and Civil Process Server. Ray retired from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department in 2002 at the age of 80. He served on the Oakfield Village Board as trustee for 25 years and was a honorary member of the Oakfield Fire Department serving as firefighter and first responder from 1956 to 2001. Ray enjoyed repairing televisions and owned and operated Ray's T.V. Repair.SURVIVORS: two daughters, Gail Nelson, Oakfield, Shelene "Shelly" (Dan) Redman, Oakfield; three grandchildren, Annette Nelson, Oakfield, Jerred (Kim) Nelson, Fond du Lac, Kimberly (Tony) Bovee, Oakfield; one great grandson, James Richard Nelson. He is further survived by one brother-in-law, Milo Perry, Oakfield; one sister-in-law, Beatrice Geisthardt, Oakfield; nieces, nephews and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosalie; son-in-law, James H. Nelson; one brother, Norman Burleton; one sister, Jeanene Arnold.



VISITATION: will be from 2 "“ 7 PM on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7 PM on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. David Pavasic officiating. Burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday, November 23, 2009 in Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Ray's name.
