Robert W. "Sudsy" King

Robert W. “Sudsy” King, 80 of Fond du Lac, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living after courageously battling dementia. He was born in Fond du Lac on April 27, 1936, a son of George and Lucille (Wood) King.



Bob graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School in 1954. He was employed at Sears in Fond du Lac, Matlins in Beaver Dam, Leath’s Furniture and Twohig Floor Covering. For many years, he was self-employed as “Bob King Carpet Service.” Bob served in the National Guard as part of the 32nd Infantry Division, 127th of the “Red Arrow Division”. He was a Golden Gloves Boxer and an avid fan of the New York Yankee’s. Bob played many years of softball as well as bowling in multiple leagues. He enjoyed years of deer and duck hunting and lastly, enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas with family and friends.



SURVIVORS include his 2 daughters, Debra (Joe) Kurkowski and Patty (Mike) Pitts as well as their mother, Nancy Kowalkowski; 3 grandsons, Tyler and Jesse Knueppel and Jordan Kurkowski; 1 great-grandson, Jason Knueppel and 6 step-granddaughters; 3 brothers, David (Lillian), Kenny (Karen) and Tom (Ginny); 6 sisters, Delores Ivey, Joan Nagy, Gerry Develice, Carol (Bill) Thomas, Mary (Kerry) Nelson and Donna (Steve) Faris; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, John and Donald; and 2 brothers-in-law, Stan Develice and Jim Ivey.



He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. His Irish eyes will be watching over us from heaven.



VISITATION for Bob will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. FUNERAL SERVICE will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with military honors being presented by the American Legion, Trier-Puddy Post #75.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fond du Lac Softball Association, the Alzheimer’s Association and/or Heartland Hospice, Fond du Lac.



The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt Thank You to Luann Biddick APNP and staff, Dr. Cheryl Tapp and staff as well as the entire staff at Brookdale Senior Living for the care and compassion shown in taking care of their dad during his illness.
