Ronald P. Schmidt, 75, of Cherokee Village, AR, formerly of Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on April 9, 1943 in Fond du Lac, the son of Paul and Margaret (Jagow) Schmidt. On February 24, 1962 he married Karen Steffen. He was a graduate of Goodrich High School and Moraine Park Technical College.



Ron was a member of Hartford Masonic Lodge, Oshkosh Council #8 and a member of Tyrian Chapter #15 of Oshkosh. He was a member of Wisconsin Commandery #1 (formerly Galilee #38) of Brookfield and an Honorary Member of the Grand Commandery of Wisconsin. He was an Area Administrator for the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin. A member of the Wisconsin Soccer Foundation for 12 years. He was a life member of the North Central York Rite College #112 in Oshkosh. Ron was a member of the Wisconsin Masonic Skunk Patrol and was also the Grand Representative from Wisconsin to Tennessee from 2003 to the present.



He had plural memberships in Wilson Lodge #432 in Hardy, AR, Ivanhoe Commandery #18, Jonesboro Chapter #79, and Gideon Council #65 all of Jonesboro, AR. Ron was the Right Eminent Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of Arkansas in 2015. He was Most Illustrious Master of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Arkansas in 2018. He was a President of the Past Commanders Association in 2017 and a member of the Sword and Trowel. He was Anointed, as a High Priest on March 11, 2010. He was a member of Bendemeer Grotto, F. J. Skully #267 Allied Masonic Degrees, Arkansas Council #80 of Knight Masons. He became a member of the Albert Pike Priory #20 of KYCH in May of 2010 serving as Prior in 2017. He was a member of Rosicruciana and Red Cross of Constantine, Trinity Conclave #90. He was the Treasurer for the North Sharp County Ministerial Alliance and served as secretary of the Sharp County Regional Airport Authority.



Ron was a member of the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church serving various duties. He worked for Giddings & Lewis Machine Tool Company for 36 years, retiring in 2001.



He is survived by his wife, Karen of Fond du Lac; one son, Brian (Bobbi) Schmidt of Fond du Lac; two daughters, Sue Kleinschmidt of Fond du Lac and Debra (Bob) Raab of St. Cloud; two granddaughters, Tanya (Alisha) Schmidt and Olivia (Cory) Schmidt; one grandson, Jeremiah Schmidt; two step grandsons, Joshua Raab and Derek Wensel; one great granddaughter, Skylar Raab; one brother, David (Barbara) Schmidt of Fond du Lac; brothers-in-law, Bill Steffen, Bob (Kathy) Steffen, John (Alice) Steffen, and David Steffen; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sister, Sharon (David) Miess.



Visitation will be held Friday, May 4, 2018 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A Masonic and Knights Templar service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Private entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
