.August 27, 1924-April 16, 2013Royden E. "Roy" Brunet Beloved husband, father, grandpa, Royden E. "Roy" Brunet, 88, of Fond du Lac, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, following extended illnesses. He was born August 27, 1924, in Fond du Lac, the son of Joseph F. and Esther E. Felch Brunet. He was a 1942 graduate of Fond du Lac High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps following his graduation, and served his country in the Southeast Pacific Theatre. He was honorably discharge from the Marines in October of 1946 as a Staff Sergeant. In 1951, he joined the US Army Reserves and retired in 1976 as a Command Sergeant Major with the 84 Division. Roy was employed by Valley Iron Works in Appleton in the engineering department, and also at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac in the die casting department. He was later employed as a Social Worker III with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections in Waupun, and also served as an LTE Librarian at Taycheedah Correctional Institution. On September 6, 1969, on a sunny day, he was married to Ruby M. Krause at Our Saviour United Church of Christ in Ripon by the Rev. Harley Tretow, and together they raised his three children. Royden's interest included time with his family and friends, being particularly proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and not giving up an opportunity of spending time with his family throughout the years. He enjoyed listening to big band music, barbershop harmony, and was an avid reader and researcher. He loved woodworking, model airplanes, especially those flown during WW II. In August of 2011, he was elected to participate in an Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C. His community service included membership in Elks Lodge #57, where he served as Exalted Ruler from 1984 to 1985 and was a District Deputy in 1994 to 1995, membership in the Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th Degree Knight, a member of Bohlman-Grimes VFW Post #1901, and was a charter member of the Marine Corps League where he wrote the flag history program at schools and community service clubs. He was a faithful member of St. Louis Church, Sacred Heart, now part of Holy Family Parish. He is cherished by his wife of 43 years, Ruby, his three children, Jeffrey (Sandy Roebke) Brunet of Redgranite, WI, Mary Jo Brunet of Kenosha, WI, and Scott (Marcia) Brunet of Virginia Beach, VA. He is further survived by seven grandchildren, Corey, Andrew (Pam), "BJ" (Elizabeth), Sarah (Daniel), Joseph, Amy, and Timothy, six great-grandchildren, Emily, Brayden, and Haley, and Mason, Tanner, and Coleman. He is also fondly remembered by his church family, beloved neighbors, and special nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, Lois, he was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lorriane Seibel, a brother-in-law, Richard Seibel, and a niece Sharon Dobratz.



Visitation for Royden E. "Roy" Brunet will be on Friday, April 19, 2013, from 3 to 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and again on Saturday, April 20th, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church-Holy Family Parish, 678 Western Avenue, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Royden's name.
