Shirley E. Cords McDermott Brand Shirley E. Cords McDermott Brand, 57, of North Fond du Lac, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 1, 2010, in Charlotte, FL. She was born September 6, 1952, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Alvin C. "Big Al" and Evelyn Kraus Cords. On May 20, 1978, she married John McDermott at St. Louis Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2001. She later married Geoffrey Brand in Fond du Lac on July 25, 2009. She was a 1971 graduate of L.P. Goodrich High School. She was currently employed by the US Postal Service in Oshkosh. She shot pool for Decades in the Thursday Night Pool Tavern League, enjoyed playing canasta with her neighbors, and participating in church activities at Church of the Presentation where she was on the church counsel, was a CCD instructor, and the Christian Women's group. She and her husband were members of Rolling Thunder, Chapters 3 of Green Bay and 4 of Wausau. She is survived by her husband, a son, Christopher McDermott of Platteville, WI, a step-son, Sean Geoffrey Brand of North Evans, NY, ten siblings, Elmer (Mary) Cords of Fond du Lac, and their children, Kevin (Sarah), Jason (Amanda), and Bradley, Jerry (Michelle) Cords of Fond du Lac and their son, Joshua, Jim (Nicole) Cords of Oakfield and their children Tony (Cathy) Immel, Matthew Immel, Michaela, and Danielle, Ruth (Mike) McGinnis of Fond du Lac and children Nicole (Fiancé' Thomas "Tad") and Amy, Jeanne (Dean) Rentmeester of Fond du Lac and their children Jennifer, Julie (Blair) Wilson, and John, David Cords of Oshkosh and his children David Michael (Sarah), Melissa (Ken) Schimmel, and April (Jon) Young, Carol (Joe) Stephanie of St. Cloud and their daughter Courtney, Pat (Mark) Schiefelbein of Fond du Lac and their daughters Ashley and Brittany, Jeffrey (Heide) Cords of Fond du Lac and their children, Ryan and Robyn, and Mary (Randy) Kuik of Lamartine and their children, Nicholas and Samantha. She is further survived by her Godmother, Betty (Bill) Tiefenthaler of Redlands, CA, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives, many good friends and neighbors. Her parents and first husband preceded her in death.



Visitation for Shirley E. Brand will be on Monday, August 9, 2010, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Tuesday, August 10th, from 10 to 11 AM at Church of The Presentation, 705 Michigan Avenue, North Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM at the church on Tuesday. The Rev. John Simon will officiate. Cremation will follow traditional services. A memorial has been established in Shirley's name.
