Valeria G. Markert

Valeria G. Markert, 94, a resident of Grancare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the past three months, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014. She was born December 20, 1919, in Eden, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Simon Klinzing. Valeria enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and was a Packers and Brewers fan. She was employed at Infant Socks and later at St. Agnes for 20 years as a nurse assistant, retiring in 1986. She was a charter member of Sacred Heart Church and also belonged to the St. Anne Society. Valeria enjoyed reading and was a voting poll worker. She also worked in the information booth at Walleye Weekend.



Surviving are her children; Bruce (Kate) Markert of Slinger, WI, Judy (Joe) Krussel of Batavia, IL, Janice (Lee) Rosenthal of Tulsa, OK, David (Colleen) Markert of Fond du Lac, and Sue (partner, Laura Bishop) Markert of Green Bay, nine grandchildren, Wendy, Amy, Jody, Heidi, Chuck, Stephanie, Erik, Adam, and Shane, and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by special niece, Nancy Serifin of Stevens Point, other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Further surviving are her in-laws, John (Vernie) Markert, Joseph (Elna) Markert, Gerald (Betty) Langenfeldt, and Deloris Cody. She was preceded in death by her parents, a half-brother, Edwin Schaefer and a half-sister, Florence Schaefer Berend.



Visitation for Valeria G. Markert will be on Saturday, June 28, 2014, from 8:30 to 10 AM at Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac. Celebration of Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Additional information and guest book may be found at www.ueckerwitt.com
