Vera E. Koenig

June 30, 1929 — April 16, 2018

Vera E. Koenig, 88, formerly of 215 Harrison Ave., NFDL, peacefully passed away at St. Agnes Hospital, with her family at her bedside Monday, April 16, 2018. Vera was born June 30, 1929, at home in Platteville, WI, daughter of Floyd and Bessie McCartney. Vera was the third born out of four children. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1947. On December 21, 1946 she married Martin H. Koenig in Waukegan, Illinois a long side her brother Merlin, as he married his wife Cecilia. She grew up in West Bend then settled with her husband in NFDL. Vera was formally employed at Infant Socks and Tolibia Cheese, where she was an active long time member of the teamsters. She enjoyed going to the family cabin in Tipler, WI, crafting, baking, gardening, laughing and being with her family.



Survivors include her two sons Kenneth Koenig of NFDL; Robert (Karen) Koenig of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; seven grandchildren, Mark (Christine) Koenig of FDL, WI; Hanford Erickson (Vicki) of WI Rapids; Christine (Darrin) Weber or Ripon, Shawn Koenig of Sheboygan, WI; Patrick Thibadoux of Appleton, WI; Kennette (Timothy) Bant of Hackberry, LA; Elizabeth Koenig of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; eleven great grandchildren; seven dearly loved nieces and nephews; and a special friend Marjorie Gulden of Green Lake.



She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Martin H. Koenig; mother, Bessie (Dean) McCartney; father, Floyd McCartney; brother, Merlin (Cecilia) McCartney; sister, Helene (Marly) Kocher; brother, Walter “Dick” (Carol) McCartney and a niece and two nephews.



The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care and compassion that was given from St. Agnes Hospice and the Emergency Room staff.
