William J. "Bill" Knueppel

Bill J. Knueppel, (Grandpa Pudge), 58, of Fox Lake, owner and operator of the D& D Bar, died Sunday, September 2, 2012, of a cardiac event while driving his car. He was born May 4, 1954, in Fond du Lac, the son of Charles W. and Kathleen A. Peebles Knueppel. Bill was a 1972 graduate of Goodrich High School. On August 24, 2002, he married Linda Smith in Fond du Lac. For the past 19 years, he was the owner/operator of the D& D Bar, managed by his nephew, Tom. Prior to this, he was employed by the Wisconsin Southern Railroad for several years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating with his dog Kobe. As an avid sports fan, he loved the Packers, Brewers, and the Badgers. He was a member of Holy Family Parish-Sacred Heart Church. Surviving is his wife, two sons, Aaron (Cassandra) Knueppel of Milwaukee, and Adam (Jessica) Knueppel of Sun Prairie, two daughters, Jenny (Steve) Kumbier, and Allison (Special Friend Jai Stoffel) Knueppel, both of Fond du Lac, two step-daughters, Marisa (Kyle) Van Baren of Randolph and Chera DeVries of Waupun, 12 grandchildren, Emma, Maisie, Millie, Aiden, Chloe, Colin, Brenna, Macie, Gracia, Leila, and Logan. He is further survived by four brothers, David (Betty) Knueppel, Dick Knueppel, Chuck (Sharon) Knueppel, and Kevin (Special Friend Carolyn Schaub) Knueppel, all of Fond du Lac, five sisters, Ann (Mark) Miller of Kimberly, Beth(Joe) Peters, of Fond du Lac, Sue (Ken) Narlock of Hartford, Jane (Dean) Wendt and Karen (Don) Bowen, both of Fond du Lac. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Loren (Pam) Smith of Waupun, his father and mother-in-law, Ron and Donna Smith of Waupun, his former wife, Jane Knueppel of Fond du Lac, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Tom and Joe.



Visitation for William J. Knueppel will be on Thursday, September 6, 2012, from 3 to 8 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and again on Friday, September 7th, from 9 to 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 678 Western Avenue, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Friday at the church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery will follow. Additional information and guest book may be found at www.ueckerwitt.com
