A. John Scheidenhelm, 92, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, September 1, 2023 at Adelaide Place. He was born August 9, 1931 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of the late Elmer Christian and Thelma Leota (Snider) Scheidenhelm. After Leota’s death in 1938, Elmer married Helen Brian Larmore.
John was a graduate of the University of Illinois in Urbana with a B.S. degree in Dairy Technology. He worked 47 years in the dairy foods processing industry. He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Shilland on August 9, 1958 in Independence, Missouri. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2004. John was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Kewaskum.
John was preceded in death by one half sister, Mary Sue (Gary) Eilrich. Survivors include two children, Glenn (Sharon) Scheidenhelm of Green Bay and Karen (David) Moehn of Fond du Lac; three grandchildren, Sheila Cotton, Jordan (Shiloh Jones) Moehn, and Jasmine (Blake) Jarvis; two step grandchildren, Amy (Kurt) Lemmen and Micky (Tim) Doyle; four step great grandchildren, Tyler Furcho, Alexus Doyle, and Andon and Lauren Lemmen; also several step great great grandchildren; one half sister, Sarah Jane (James) Biermann of Glenwood, Iowa; two half brothers-in-law, Gary Eilrich of Cleveland, Ohio and David Shilland III of Commerce Township, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The visitation will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 12:30 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place and entombment will be held at a later date in Nicolet Memorial Gardens in Green Bay.
The family would like to thank ProMedica Hospice for their care over the last two weeks of his life. They would also like to thank Woodlands Senior Center for the care they gave him for 4 ½ years and Frontida Adelaide Place for their care the last 8 months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to John’s college fraternity (FarmHouse Fraternity) in memory of his father, Elmer C. Scheidenhelm (the Elmer C. Scheidenhelm Memorial Fund) at FarmHouse Foundation, 1021 Jefferson Street, Kansas City, MO 64105. Other places donations can be sent in his memory are the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or the charity of one’s choice are preferred.
