Barbara Cooper

Barbara Cooper, a long-time resident of Modesto, California, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, at the age of 76 in Fond du Lac, WI.

Born on April 4, 1950, Barbara was the cherished but not favorite daughter of the late John J. Cooper, Sr. and Edna K. Cooper. After growing up in Janesville, Barbara spent 50 years building a life filled with community, independence, and good friends in Modesto, California.

Barbara is remembered as a fierce Bunco player who loved her animals and online shopping. She leaves behind a family who will miss her dearly, including her siblings: her mother’s favorite son John (Linda), and sisters Pat, Peg, and her favorite sister Deb. She is also survived by her favorite niece Sara (Matt) Hechel, godson Christopher (Thea) Cooper, as well as her extended family of great-nieces, great-nephews, and close friends. Her family is especially grateful for Barbara’s friend Nancy who made the trip back to Wisconsin memorable and safe. The family would also like to recognize her exceptional caregivers, especially Nikki and Bree at Lutheran Home. Thank you for your kindness and care.

Barbara joins in rest her beloved parents, John and Edna, and her sister-in-law, Katherine Cooper, who preceded her in death.
