Carol J. Cratchy

Carol J. Cratchy, 80, of North Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully at her home on March 1, 2026, after a long battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on May 9, 1945, in Fond du Lac to Ralph and Mae (Tynan) Druggish. On April 18, 1970, she married David J. Cratchy. They shared 49 years together before his passing in 2019.

Carol had a lifelong love of numbers and worked for many years in bookkeeping, where her precision and strong work ethic were well known. She also found great joy in sewing and quilting, creating countless beautiful pieces for her family and generously donating many to others. Traveling with Dave and spending time with family and loved ones were among her happiest moments.

Survivors include her two sons, Chip (Janet Stilwell) Cratchy of Fond du Lac and Donald Cratchy and his wife, Sarah Phillips of Stewartville, MN; six grandchildren, Casey (Erika) Cratchy, Emily (Dalton Freiberg) Cratchy, Courtney (Shane Steffen) Cratchy, all of Fond du Lac, Madelyn Cratchy, Samantha Cratchy and Harriet Phillips of Stewartville, MN; five great-grandchildren; in-laws, James (Cheryl) Cratchy of North Fond du Lac, Larry Rupert of Iola, WI, Eileen (Tim Goldstein) Druggish of St. George Island, FL; nieces and nephews, Jeanne (Clarence) Gorter, Steve (Linda) Rupert, Debbie (Michael) Jacquart, Malissa (Scott) Bonlender, Linda (Ken) Sadorf, and Steve (Tracy) Balthazor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Diane (Roger) Balthazor; her brother, Thomas Druggish; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Adeline Cratchy; sister-in-law, Carol Rupert; and brother-in-law, Roger Balthazor.

Carol will be remembered for her strength, creativity, and the love she shared with her family. The family extends a special thank you to Mary Jo Dowland for her years of dedication and support in helping Carol remain in her home.

In accordance with her wishes, a small private service was held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a local charity in Carol’s honor.
