Carol A. Kelnhofer, 81, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. She was born March 19, 1944, in Fond du Lac, WI, the daughter of Edward P. Baierl and Erna R. (Elsinger) Baierl. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1962. She worked most of her life as a bookkeeper at Jacobson’s in Brownsville then at Capelle Bros & Diedrich in Fond du Lac. Carol raised two children, Sue and Jodi, with Donald Kelnhofer (may he rest in peace). She later found a partner in Leo Faucher, with whom she spent her later years of life.
Carol loved life, animals, and traveling, especially out West. A huge fan of Elvis and the Green Bay Packers, Carol also enjoyed fishing, RVing, and snowmobiling. Being a member of the Wisconsin Sports Car Club, she enjoyed running sports car rallies and helped bring the Demo Derby to the Fond du Lac County Fair. She also enjoyed motorcycling in Key West and attending bike events in Sturgis and Daytona. She loved to pass time crocheting a multitude of projects including afghans, scarfs, baby blankets and mermaid tails to keep family and friends cozy. Carol was an avid gardener with yellow roses being her favorite and was always up for a round of spider solitaire – a game in which she would be sure you knew of her 99% success rate.
Preceding Carol in death are her parents Ed and Erna, former husband Donald, and cherished family friend Seth Laken who was like a son to her. Surviving her are partner Leo Faucher and their beloved black lab Heidi; two daughters, Sue (Mark) Goulais of Campbellsport, and Jodi Reilley (Johnny Frey) of North Bay, as well as close family friend Amy Laken Lee who was like another daughter to her; three grandchildren, Michelle Goulais (fiancé Brett Smoot), Cassie (Ethan) Sippel, and Tessa (Josh) Whitlow. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, James, Keoni, Kaylahni, and Kenzo. A brother Ken (Ellie) Baierl of Fond du Lac along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive her. The visitation will be on held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:30 PM at the funeral home. Entombment will occur in Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, that you would consider a donation to the Fond du Lac Humane Society in her memory.
