Clarence Chris "C." Keller

October 20, 1925 — July 18, 2004

Another member of "Our Greatest Generation", Clarence "Chris" C. Keller, 78, of 610 Illinois Avenue, North Fond du Lac, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004, at ManorCare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after the longest battle of his life beginning with heart surgery at St. Agnes Hospital on January 26, 2004. On March 17, 2004, the fight continued at Kindred Hospital in Greenfield, WI. On July 7, 2004, he came home to Fond du Lac for continued care and physical therapy at ManorCare.He was born October 20, 1925, in Hartford, WI, the son of Christ and Melinda Krahn Keller. He was a decorated Infantry veteran of the US Army, proudly serving his country during WW II in the Pacific theater. His name is listed on the National Registry of Veterans section in the recently dedicated World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. On October 3, 1953, he married Dorothy Klein at the Church of Peace where he is a member. Their Golden Anniversary celebration was a lasting memory to him. He was formerly employed at Kiekhaefer Mercury, C.D. Smith Construction, and retired from the Soo Line Railroad as a carman in 1986. He was always a man of his word, enjoyed helping others, loved to build and create things, and enjoyed hunting with his son and their hunting gang. But above all, his family came first, his undying love for his wife, pride in his children, and being blessed with 2 granddaughters, that he loved more than life itself, they were his life.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, a daughter, Deborah, a son, Jeffrey (Jean) Keller, granddaughters, Ashlee and Amanda, all of North Fond du Lac. He is also survived by sisters Mae (Gene) Becker of Fond du Lac, Marilyn Schultz of North Fond du Lac, Nancy (Harvey) Brodzeller of Kewaskum, Christine (Mike) Weimer of North Fond du Lac, and brother Ronald (Barbara) Keller of Rosendale. Further surviving are sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Glenn) Redman, and Mary (Dick) Johnson of Fond du Lac, Judith (Lloyd "Duke") Hawes of Muskego, brothers-in-law Gene (Joanne) Klein of Van Dyne, Ronald (Betty) Klein of Fond du Lac, and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Donna Keller, a brother, Kenneth, a brother-in-law, Edward Schultz, his father-in-law, George Klein, mother-in-law, Gertrude Klein, and a sister-in-law, Patricia Klein.



Visitation for Mr. Clarence "Chris" C. Keller will be on Wednesday, July 21, 2004, from 9 to 11 am at Church of Peace-United Church of Christ. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at 11 am the church. Cremation has taken place. The Revs. Gerald Bertsch and Richard Weikel will officiate and inurnment of cremated remains will be in Rienzi Chapel Mausoleum. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
