Constance Jean Smet

Constance Jean Smet, 82, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Adelaide Place Senior Living in Fond du Lac.

She was born March 25, 1944, in Crivitz, Wisconsin, the daughter of Donald V. and Mildred M. (Weidner) McAuly. In 1966, she married Aaron Firks. Their marriage ended in 1973. On October 25, 1974, she married Elmer H. Smet in Fond du Lac. Elmer preceded her in death on February 13, 1999.

Constance was a graduate of Winnebago Lutheran Academy and the owner of Maid-4-U, Inc., a polished residential & commercial cleaning company. She enjoyed spending time with family, dancing, ceramics, traveling, exploring casinos, and spending quality time with her community. She was a member of the Fond du Lac Optimist Club.

She is survived by her son, Daniel J. Firks of Naperville, Illinois; her sister, Carol (Ernie) Steffen of St. Cloud; and her brother, Ronald (Lorraine) McAuly of Florida.

She is also survived by her stepson, Paul (Cathy) Smet of Deerbrook; her stepsons, John (Jean) Smet, Mark Smet, and Daniel (Julie) Smet, all of Fond du Lac; her stepdaughter, Lisa (Rick) Collien of Fond du Lac; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her special friend, Daniel Ireland of Fond du Lac.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Elmer, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Aaron Firks; Meagan Glapperich; Ron Riggs: Diane Riggs; and Donna Charniewski.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Private entombment in the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery will take place on Friday, October 23.

The family extends a special thank you to her grandson, Jesse Smet, for all the care and kindness he showed Constance throughout the years.
