Daniel R. Schraufnagel

Daniel R. Schraugnagel, 70, of Brownsville, died Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at St. Agnes Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 24, 1956 to Louis and Barbara (Warnke) Schraufnagel in Waupun, WI. He graduated from Oakfield High School in 1974. Daniel married his one true love, Wendi Towne on January 15, 1977 and welcomed four beloved children.

Daniel loved family and farming. He spent his time with his children and grandchildren and anything farming. He was blessed to be allowed to farm at Crailoo Dairy for the last 25 years. He passed along his love of showing Brown Swiss cows to his son, D.J. and his grandchildren. Daniel loved to watch his grandchildren's events and sports, cheering loudly from the sidelines and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Wendi; their four children, D.J. Schraufnagel, Jenni (Jon) Post, Kari (Tim) Schlefke, and Kelli (Cory) Henke. He was thrilled by the arrival of 12 grandchildren, Logan (Timberlynn) Henke, Louie (special friend, Olivia Johnston) Schraufnagel, Eric Schraufnagel, Zac Schraufnagel, Brock Post, Jaelyn (special friend, Karsen Schraven) Henke, C.J. Schraufnagel, Mya Schraufnagel, Cade Henke, Blaise Post, Gaige Schlefke, Celia Schlefke, and eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first great grandson, Elijah, due in November. He is also survived by his sisters, Lois Schelvan and Karen (Jim) Hesprich; stepbrother, Terry (Kathy) Brummond; stepsister, Wendy (fiancé, Rodney DeWitt) Bosch; his father and mother-in-law, Lawrence and JoAnn Towne; sisters and brother-in-law, Lauri Vanden Berg, Denise Towne, Tim (Shirley) Towne, and Juli (Greg) Diederichs; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Caeleb and Kiahna Henke; and brothers-in-law, Scott Schelvan and Gary Vanden Berg.

The family extends a special thank you to the cardiac team at St. Agnes Hospital for the great care he received.

The visitation will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 9:00 – 12:00 PM at Bethel Church, 305 W Main Street in Brandon. The memorial service will follow at 12:00 PM at church on Saturday. Private inurnment will be held at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
