DANIEL JOHN WYROBECK

On September 12, 2026, on the 73rd anniversary of his wedding to the love of his life, Dan left to be reunited with his beloved wife, Cathy. "Irregardless" of their sadness, his children could only be joyful knowing that the two of them are finally together again.

Dan was born on April 8, 1932, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, the middle of five children born to Eugene Daniel and Marie (Neustaedter) Wyrobeck. Naturally athletic, he carried a deep love for a wide variety of sports throughout his entire 94 years. In his younger days, he enjoyed cycling, played baseball, bowled, and, above all, golfed. A testament to his enduring vitality, Dan played his final round of golf with his league of 32 years on September 2, 2026. As an avid spectator, he was a big fan of the Tour de France and hockey, and a lifelong supporter of the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.

He was also a lifelong fisherman—whether on hard ice or open water. Over the decades, some of his favorite fishing spots included Little Green Lake, Lake Minocqua, Lake Winnebago, and annual trips down to Reelfoot Lake with the guys.

During the Korean Conflict, Dan served his country in the military, stationed in York, England, where he worked building and maintaining bases. Following his service, he returned to Wisconsin and joined Kiekhaefer Mercury Outboards in Fond du Lac. He spent many years traveling between Fond du Lac and Florida helping build Lake X. During this era, he was also actively involved with Kiekhaefer’s legendary NASCAR stock car racing team. Created originally to promote Mercury outboards, the team dominated NASCAR from 1955 to 1956 and forever transformed the sport of professional stock car racing. Dan retired from Mercury Marine in 1994 after decades of dedicated service, though he remained a faithful ambassador for Mercury.

Dan’s zest for staying active and bringing people together never slowed down. During COVID, he convinced his children to buy e-bikes just so they could ride the Fond du Lac Loop trail with him.

He is survived by his children: daughter Lynn (Paul) Webb, son Michael (Christine) Wyrobeck, daughter Mary Jo (Ted) Reinke, daughter Nancy Wyrobeck (James) Thomas, and son Mark (Annie) Wyrobeck.

He is further survived by his grandchildren: Amanda (Corey) Laher, Scott Webb, Ami (Jason) King, Steve (Katie) Wyrobeck, Derick (Tiffany) Wyrobeck, Amanda Reinke (Jared), Cali Wyrobeck, and Matthew Wyrobeck; his great-grandchildren: Jackson, Olivia, Tristan, Michaela, Lennon, Isabel, Zachary (Kelsey), Payten, Tayler, Dawson (Hanna), MacKenzie, Urban, Hailyana, Jai, Cole, Lincoln, Hudson, and Nash; his great-great-grandchildren: Hollyn, Marlowe, and Calloway; and his best friend, "Tweety" Bob Kurth.

Dan was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine (Griffin) Wyrobeck; his parents, Eugene and Marie Wyrobeck; his brothers, Roger and Thomas; and his sisters, Jeanmarie Moore and Georgene Graf.

As per Dan's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. A memorial is being established in Dan's name.
