David G. Basler, 65, of Eldorado, and formerly of Pleasant Prairie, died Saturday, November 8, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 25, 1949 in Fond du Lac, the son of Ralph and Natalie Simon Basler. David married Pamela S. Grimes on August 7, 1971 in Groton, CT. David was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Navy as a Hull Tech Chief for 22 years, retiring in 1988. After retirement from the Navy he worked as a pipe fitter for NAVFAC retiring in 2013. He was a VFW supporter and a member of the Harley Owners Group. David was an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed camping, riding his Harley and cooking. He was always smiling and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela; his daughter, Shayne (Randy) Ferguson of Winslow, ME; his son, Kevin Basler of Eldorado; three grandchildren, Charlotte Ferguson, Cody Ferguson and Kyle Ferguson; one great granddaughter, Allisyn Ferguson. He is further survived by his mother, Natalie Basler of Rosendale; five brothers, Bob (Mary) Basler of Eldorado, John (Kathy) Basler of Kenosha, Tom (Marcia) Basler of Fond du Lac, Ken (Kristi) Basler of Eldorado, and Ed (Julie) Basler of Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Basler.
The visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Burial will take place on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI.
