David M. Gerlach

David Gerlach, born on October 13, 1944, passed away unexpectedly as a result of a motor vehicle accident on August 1, 2025.

A lifelong resident of Fond du lac, he graduated from Goodrich High School in 1963. He was a proud veteran in the United States Army. Following his military service, David devoted 37 years to Mercury Marine as a Tool & Die maker which he enjoyed greatly.

An avid lover of the outdoors, he found joy in fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. David loved cars, his moped and spent countless hours tinkering in his garage. He will be remembered for his resilience, tenacity, and instilled this love of the outdoors and sense of adventure in his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Eric Gerlach (Amanda), Sara Schneider (Andrew) and Holly Doll (Michael); grandchildren, Sophia, Athen, Cameron, Connor, Lauren, Miles and Eli; and his sister, Elaine Guerin. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Craig; his parents, Leonard and Eunice; his siblings, James, Gerald, and Marilyn; and former wife Sandra Gerlach.

A private service will be held at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Burial will take place at St. Charles Cemetery, Fond du Lac, WI.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope on the Block in his memory.
