David R. Keys, 67, of Fond du Lac, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on March 3, 1956, in Fond du Lac, the son of Charles and Ruth (Bassil) Keys. David served in the U.S. Navy as a jet mechanic aboard the USS Oriskany. He was a member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever. David also shot pool league for many years. He loved to fish, hunt, watch the Packers and Brewers, as well as an avid Bob Uecker fan. His greatest love was for his family, especially his grandson and Bear.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Chip Clark) Benzel; grandson, Malachi Benzel; three brothers, Charles (Joann), Dan, and Pat (Sandy) Keys; two sisters, Connie (Kit) Gindt and Debbie (Doug) Schussman; former wife, Debbie Goeden Keys; special friends, Janine O’Brien and Tim (Annette) Casey; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth; infant daughter, Vanessa; and special friends, Yak, Bill, and Wayne.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will occur after the visitation at 6:00 PM. Military Honors will happen after the funeral service. Cremation will follow the service.
