David A. Wiza

September 19, 1947 — July 21, 2024

David A. Wiza, age 76, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Harbor Haven surrounded by his loving family, ending a long battle with the terrible effects of Vietnam’s Agent Orange. Three days before his 53rd wedding anniversary, Heaven received a new Angel. The world lost one of the best husbands, dads, and grandpas ever.

David was born on September 19, 1947, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Vincent and Laura (Jacobson) Wiza. Due to his dad’s many businesses he attended school in Milwaukee, Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac, graduating from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac.

Dave was attending UW-Oshkosh when Uncle Sam decided he wanted Dave. He was in the United States Army from 1966-68. First it was off to Fort Leonard Wood. Next it was on to Vietnam, where he was stationed from 1967-68. He fought in Da Nang and Phu Bai. He was also in the Battle of Hue-Tet Offensive. Dave earned two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, and the Army Commendation Medal among many others.

When Dave returned home, he decided to go into the field of trucking. He was in management. Dave worked for Spector Freight, Carolina Freight, Ryder, and Old Dominion. In 1968, he met his forever partner, Suzanne “Sue” Faris. They were married on July 24, 1971. Together they raised two beautiful children.

Family was always very important to Dave. He could be found at as many events as possible for his children and grandchildren. Playing ball, fishing, and planting gardens were some of the many activities he could be seen enjoying with his “kids”.

David suffered many illnesses due to Agent Orange and the horrific side effects of Vietnam. But the hardest was the loss of his eyesight. He so missed watching his seven grandchildren grow and going to their events but loved hearing every detail. He remained one of their biggest cheerleaders! Dave was a member of Trier-Puddy American Legion Post 75.

David is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sue; his son, David (Carrie) Wiza Jr and their children, Carson (Jennifer) Wiza, Tyler (Brooke Birschbach) Wiza and Shayna (Brice) Peth. He is also survived by his daughter, Wendy (Jeff) Krcmar, and their children, Nashua, Finlei, Dellyn, and Martinah. David is now able to see Martinah’s beautiful face, one of his greatest regrets.

He is further survived by his brother, James Wiza; sister-in-law, Kathy Wiza; brothers-in-law, David Knuth, Gene (Kerry) Faris, Paul Faris; and sister-in-law, Anne Faris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Laura Wiza; in-laws, Bernice and Myron Faris; brother, John Wiza; sister, Patricia Knuth; sister-in-law, Arleen Wiza; and brother-in-law, Jeff Faris.

Visitation will take place on Monday, July 29, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Holy Family Church, 271 4th St. Way, Fond du Lac, WI, 54937.
