Diana R. Van Pelt

Heaven welcomed Diana R. Van Pelt home on May 3, 2004. She was born November 2, 1928, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Judson and Dorothy L. Layton Rickkers. On August 12, 1965, she married Dirk S. Van Pelt in Green Lake. Mrs. Van Pelt was a member and elder of the 1st Presbyterian Church. She was formerly employed by the Fond du Lac School District for several years as a secretary. Diana later became a volunteer for Hospice Hope in the mid-1980's and then was appointed Coordinator of Volunteers until her retirement in 1992. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Hospice Golf outing and the Hospice Home of Hope. She was a founding charter member, and past President of the P.E.O. Sisterhood of Fond du Lac. She was a member of Service League. Mrs. Van Pelt was an active volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Her faithfulness to God and her church were foremost in our family. She set high standards for herself and by doing so set them for us. Surviving is her husband, Dirk, of Fond du Lac, a daughter, Susan (Special Friend Dave Buehrens) Draffan of Ojai, CA, two sons, George (Special Friend Julen Schlack) Draffan of Seattle, WA, and Judson (Tammy) Draffan of San Diego, CA, three step-sons, Curtis (Cindy) Van Pelt of Madison, Tyler (Betty) Van Pelt of New Berlin, WI, and D. Forest Van Pelt of Fond du Lac, and eight grandchildren. She is further survived by two brothers, Dr. Layton F. (Dee Dee) Rikkers of Madison, and Judson (Helga) Rikkers of Ripon. Her parents and a sister, Winifred R. Rikkers preceded her in death.



Visitation for Mrs. Diana R. Van Pelt will be on Friday, May 7, 2004, from 9:30 to 11 am at 1st Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be at 11 am on Friday, May 7, 2004, at the church. The Revs. Barbara Carmichael and Lloyd De Jong will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment services will follow the memorial service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hospice Home of Hope, 1st Presbyterian Church, the Fond du Lac Foundation, or the National Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
