Diane S. Thompson

Diane S. Thompson, age 80, of Fond du Lac, gained her wings on Sunday, May 31, 2026. She was born on March 18, 1946, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Leonard and Helen LaPine. On October 5, 1968, Diane married Douglas Masteller, and together they raised five children. She was a member of Church of Peace in Fond du Lac and graduated from Goodrich High School in 1964.

Throughout her life, Diane worked in the restaurant and catering industry. She worked at George Webb, Pizza Hut, Cracker Barrel, and Ambrosia Catering. She enjoyed relaxing by doing word searches, reading romance novels, and watching some of her favorite television shows, including MASH, Law & Order: SVU, and classic westerns.

Lovingly known as “Nana,” Diane especially enjoyed going out to eat on payday and spoil her granddaughter, Courtney. She was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever she could. Some of her family's fondest memories include Halloween parties, her homemade macaroni and cheese, goulash, and ham spread.

Diane is survived by her five children, Pamela Masteller, Troy (Renate) Masteller, Joseph (Shawna) Masteller, Robin (Terry) Ottaway, and Amanda Masteller. She is further survived by 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Elijah, Cali, and Gwynnevere, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Helen LaPine; two brothers who passed away earlier in life; her sister, Linda (Dick) Spuhler; a brother, Richard (Judy) LaPine; three little angel children, and her grandchild, Poppyseed.

A private family gathering will be held, with a Celebration of Life planned for July. Cremation has taken place.
