Douglas L. "Doug" Hoffmann

Douglas L. “Doug” Hoffmann, 90, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Fond du Lac on January 28, 1934, to Alvin and Margaret (Heber) Hoffmann. Doug was a 1953 graduate of Winnebago Lutheran Academy. Following graduation, he joined the US Army and served from 1953-1957. During the Korean War, Doug was stationed in Germany and following active duty, remained in the Wisconsin Army National Guard until 1980. On September 24, 1960, he married the love of his life, Judith “Judy” Henslin at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2019. 

 

Doug loved to sing as well as camp at Evergreen Campsites and Resorts in Wild Rose, Wis. Along with his wife, Judy, and oldest daughter, Nancy, he joined Big Brothers & Big Sisters as a volunteer. Doug worked at Giddings & Lewis (G&L) for many years, retiring in 1997. During retirement, he enjoyed working at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home washing vehicles. Doug enjoyed bowling in league, was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Fond du Lac Aerie #270, American Legion Trier-Puddy Post #75, VFW Bohlman-Grimes Post #1904, and served as a volunteer with the Fond du Lac Auxiliary Police. He was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir, served as an usher, and was a member of the men’s ministry. 

 

Doug is survived by his daughter, Lynn Luhn (Jonathan Findley); three nieces, Annette Bugler, Julie (Scott) Moller, and Jackie Hansen; three nephews, Steve (Laurie) Prink, Randy (Jenny) Hoffmann, and Jeff (Julie) Hoffmann; a great-nephew, Cody Bugler (Niki); and friends that he considered family, especially his guardian angel Alisa Kaiser who was always there for him. In addition to his parents and wife Judy, Doug was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Hoffmann; two brothers, Don, and Dave Hoffmann; his mother and father-in-law and sisters and brothers-in-law, Gloria (Wayne) Prink and Jim (Jean) Hansen. 

 

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 11, 2024, and will be held at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent St. in Fond du Lac, with visitation from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Burial in Estabrooks Cemetery will follow the service with Military Funeral Honors rendered by Trier-Puddy Post #75 and the US Army.
