Eileen I. Buehrens, 99, of Fond du Lac, entered the kingdom of heaven on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at SSM Hospice Home of Hope. She was born on June 20, 1926, the daughter of Henry and Regina (Hollander) Walters. She came from humble beginnings on a farm in rural Packwaukee, WI. She would always say, “We were poor but didn’t know it.” Upon graduating from high school in 1944, She moved to Milwaukee to go to work. Jobs were plentiful then because of the war. She moved into an apartment with a friend and realized the joys of living with indoor plumbing and electricity for the first time. On September 6, 1947, she married Harold Buehrens at Faith Lutheran Church in Milwaukee.
By 1955 they had 4 children and decided to move to Fond du Lac to raise their family. She was a stay-at-home mom until the youngest went to school. She went to work at the Fond du Lac Clinic in Medical Records until her retirement in 1988. Eileen was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac, and was part of the “Woman on Their Own” group at church. She was a very independent woman who loved reading, dining out, making homemade greeting cards, and traveling. She was also an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan and a highlight of that was meeting Bob Uecker at the ballpark on her 94th birthday. Until her brain tumor diagnosis in November 2025, she lived on her own and was very proud of that. She was counting down the days to her 100th birthday in June of this year.
She is survived by four children, Karl (Carol) Buehrens of San Diego, CA, Barbara (Brooks) Feldmann of Fond du Lac, David (Susan Draffan) Buehrens of Ojai, CA, and Dan (Wendy) Buehrens of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren, Adam Buehrens, Lora (Todd) Moore, Jamie (Larry Jr.) Seyfert, Katie (Jacob) Kohlman, and Rebecca (Adam) Hettenhaus; seven great-grandchildren, Brooklynn and Kennedy Kohlman, Ava and Aria Seyfert, Cameron Moore, and Remington and Millie Hettenhaus; two special friends, Anna and Sharon Lohmann; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Regina; husband, Harold; four siblings, Valera (Harold) Calder, LeRoy (Jean) Walters, Geraldine (Gerald) Iwanowski, and Dixie (Vernet) Wagner; and special friend, Robert Mitchell.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 6:00 PM. Private family burial will occur in Eastside Cemetery, Montello, WI,
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and volunteers at SSM Hospice Home of Hope.
