Elaine E. Waltz

Elaine Emily Waltz peacefully passed on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Violet Meadows Assisted Living in Fond du Lac. She was a resident for over four years and the last two years she enjoyed the company of her sister, Dawn who is a resident.

Elaine was born in Fond du Lac on April 5, 1922 to parents Eugene F. Curran and Elsie Rasske. At seven years old her father tragically died and Elaine as the oldest of five, became responsible to help take care of her siblings. Nursing became Elaine's calling and she graduated from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Milwaukee. She then served as an officer in the US Navy as a nurse during WWII. After returning to Fond du Lac she was a nurse at St. Agnes Hospital for many years and then later Director of two nursing homes.

Elaine married US Marine Norbert “Nobby” Waltz on December 2, 1944 living in Milwaukee, then moving and residing in both Fond du Lac and Oakfield. Elaine and Nobby raised six children. Elaine enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and baking. She loved to read and do puzzles. Elaine was passionate about her family and especially loved seeing her grandchildren. Her favorite saying was "I should write a book" in regards to family and her life.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Glenn and Eugene; sister, Beatrice; son, Stephen; and husband, Norbert. Surviving are three sons, Randy Waltz of Oviedo, FL, Michael (Randee) Waltz of Minocqua and Jon (Gail) Waltz of South Byron; two daughters, Deborah Waltz of Panama City, FL and Gretchen Waltz of Fond du Lac; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; along with nieces and nephews. She is further survived by her sister, Dawn Burkhardt of Fond du Lac.

At Elaine’s request, private services will be held.
