Ellen Jean (Theisen) Boll, 58, of Adell, WI, passed away on June 11, 2026, following a 3-year quiet and resilient battle with Ovarian Cancer. Ellen was born to the late David and Rita Theisen from Fond du Lac on August 29, 1967. As the 7th of 8 children, Ellen developed a strong personality. This resulted in her nicknames of “Boomer”, “Gammi”, and “BatKiller….all of which have a great backstory.
Weekend household chores in the Theisen home always had a soundtrack, an album of choice from one of the older siblings, which gave Ellen her love for classic rock. She manifested this into enjoying concerts, such as the annual Parrothead gatherings for Jimmy Buffett shows, or later, Nathaniel Rateliff.
Trips to her father’s side of the family to Manitowoc had the Theisen clan frequently stop at Boll’s Midway Bar in Hayton, which ironically became her married name. There, the kids would play on the tire swing in the backyard,
Drum and Bugle Corps was a “family business” for the Theisen’s, with the entire family participating throughout the summer with the Fond du Lac Marquis. Ellen was primarily part of the Color Guard, and to her last days, could still show off her talents with, say, a golf club or broomstick.
She graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1985.
Working at Waldenbooks gave her a love for reading. This love resulted in her always having a book, or later, a Kindle, with her. Her favorite place to read was on her back screen porch in Adell, with her daily “cuppa” tea, and a Siamese cat on her lap, watching the birds. She loved to collect decorative pillows, be creative with cooking, especially known for her cookies, and tend to her flowers. “Daisies are the friendliest flower’ was one of her favorite lines.
She married David Boll on September 19, 1992. They lived in Davenport and Appleton before moving to Adell in 2008. During the 1990s, Ellen was the “Team Mom” for David’s bicycle racing team, pinning the numbers on the racers' jerseys and ensuring a dry towel was ready at the finish.
Ellen loved to travel, be it with her Boll sisters-in-law with their annual Cozumel trip, or with David, as they would visit Scotland, Belize (her favorite), and sail the Apostle Islands, Lake Michigan, or the British Virgin Islands. The most cherished memories came through from the little local weekend getaways with her sister, Sandy, and her BFF, Patty Steger. She also loved to watch British murder mystery shows and Formula One racing.
Ellen worked for CDW as an inside-sales rep for over two decades, where she received loads of respect, admiration, and love from her teammates.
Even toward the end of her journey, Ellen’s unforgettable personality shone brightly at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic in Sheboygan. The nurses always looked forward to seeing Ellen and the big “middle finger” pillow she brought along to chemotherapy. Every single time her IV alarm went off, Ellen would raise the pillow high above her head with both hands, bringing laughter to the room.
She is survived by her husband, David, and her siblings, Laura Theisen, Keith Theisen, Lynn (Greg) Zills, Jeff (Kim) Theisen, Scott (Kathy) Theisen, Neal (Shelly) Theisen, and Sandy (John) Vavra. Also survived by In-Laws Dave (Norma) Boll, Barb Jens, Laura Boll, Erica (Jason) Schwefel, Kristin Boll, Courtney (Jason) Koschnik, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Rita Theisen, and a sister-in-law, Sandy (Kollath) Theisen.
Visitation will be held at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 North Park Ave in Fond du Lac, on Sunday, June 28th, 2026, from 12 pm to 3 pm, with prayer service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made in Ellen’s name to either the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund or the Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
