Mom’s prayers are finally answered. Eva F. Ennis, 102, of Fond du Lac passed away peacefully in her sleep, at her home with Tom & Sue on Sunday, May 24, 2026. It’s what she wanted for herself and what all of us wanted for her. Eva was born January 29, 1924 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Roy and Inez (Snippen) Wright. On March 10, 1942 she married James P. Ennis in Detroit, MI. She talked often about the wonderful and fulfilling life that she had. Her nearly 50 years with her husband Pat, her 10 children and their accomplishments and at times disappointments.
Mike and Sharon always lived close by so she got to be there to see their children grow. Doug and Judy and their children spending holidays with family. Dick worrying her with his adventurous spirit in the military and literally flying helicopters around the world. Dan was always grounded to his family and that gave her comfort. Peter drove her crazy with constant changes but she always supported him. Patsy’s challenges with all of her children but especially Stephanie. From day #1 she was there, uneasy in this new realm of uncertainty, but always supportive whatever it took. Tom was her late in life mainstay. Every day, 24 hours a day, she depended on Tom. And he came through above and beyond. Joe visited her nearly every day. His spirit uplifted her with laughter at each visit. Mom had everything and anything she could have asked for. Love, adventure, challenges, care and finally peace.
Eva is survived by her son, Dan (Betty) of St. Cloud; daughter, Patty (Tom) Cihowiak of Neenah; sons, Tom (Sue) and Joe (Barb), both of Fond du Lac. Her surviving 25 grandchildren include, (Mike’s) Michael and Tracey; (Doug’s) Dawn, Mark, Jamie and Heather; (Dan’s) Nancy, Karen, and Tina); (Dick’s) Kathy, Laila and Jessica; (Peter’s) Crissy, Terry and Peter II; (Patty’s) Jason, Amanda, Travis, and Stephanie; (Tom’s) Ryan, Cheryl and Alyssa; (Mary Jane’s) Tony, Jennifer and Candice. Eva also has forty-nine great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren surviving her. Her very special sister-in-law, Sr. Mary Ann Ennis, O.P. of Adrian, MI survives as her lifelong friend. Eva’s nephew Gene (Annette) Wright and niece-in-law Julie Wright, both of Beloit, and their extended families will also deeply miss “Aunt Eva” along with the families of Eva’s deceased nephew John Wright.
Eva was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Pat, shortly before their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1992. Eva is also predeceased by their sons, Jimmy (1966), Peter (1984), Douglas (2010), Dick (2018), Mike (2023) and daughter, Mary Jane Schraven (2023). Other losses include four grandsons and a granddaughter, Mike & Sharon’s Steve and John; Dan & Betty’s Tim; Patty & Keith Schraufnagel’s Melissa and Derek. She also shared in Dan and Betty’s loss of great-great granddaughter, Amari. Eva’s parents Roy and Inez Wright, her brother Ted (Kay) Wright and sisters June (Carl) LaMarca, Margaret (Russell) Wells and spouses had all previously passed away as well. Eva’s in-laws Art & Vera Ennis and sister-in-law Sr. David Ennis CSA along with daughters-in-law Sharon, Judy, Nancy, Connie, Wendy and sons-in-law Jim Schraven and Keith Schraufnagel; nephews Jim and John Wright and Robert Wells also preceded her.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 29, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery in Eden, Wisconsin.
