Gary R. Gerner

Gary R. Gerner, age 78, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center. Gary was born on November 7, 1947, in Fond du Lac, the son of Emmett and Janice (Diedrich) Gerner. Gary graduated from Goodrich High School in 1966 and then attended Milwaukee School of Engineering. On September 16, 1972, he married Jean L. Schneider in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2017. Gary worked as an electrical engineer at G&L/Fives until his retirement. He was a member and past president and secretary of the Fond du Lac Railroad Club. Gary enjoyed golfing, riding his Harley, deer hunting, and playing in his weekly card groups.

Survivors include his five children, Shaun (Kerri) of Harrodsburg, KY, Kristi (Casey) Valiant of Evansville, IN. and their children, Ciana and Jovie, Nathan (Laurie) of Waunakee, WI, and their children, Rhiannon and Gavin, Daniel (Megan) of Fond du Lac and their children, Kennedy, Natalie and Delaney, and Matthew (Rachel) of Fayetteville, AR, and their children David, Felicity, and Eden; his siblings, Dave (Marlene) Gerner, Jill (Ed) Dombrowski, Lori (Mark) Stewart, Jeff (Peggy) Gerner; special friend, Joanne Balthazor; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, and two siblings, Steve Gerner and Jack Gerner.

Visitation will take place on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Visitation will also take place on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery.
