Gloria J. Schumacher, age 93, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at North View, formally Touch Stone in North Fond du Lac. She was born February 8, 1932, at the Laude family farmhouse in the township of Friendship. She was the daughter of Milton and Viola (Bergman) Laude.
On May 12, 1950, she married Donald Schumacher in Oshkosh. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nekimi. After getting married, she helped on the farm, worked out in the fields and milked cows. Then she was very busy with all the kids, gardening, and canning. She worked at Bernward Hall in North Fond du Lac for weddings. She also started making wedding cakes and many kinds of cakes. She waitressed at Joseph’s Supper Club on 45 and Robbins Supper Club in Oshkosh. Also, the canning factory in Rosendale, Miles Kimball in Oshkosh and Tolibia Cheese Factory in Fond du Lac for 10 years before retiring.
Gloria enjoyed travelling, going on cruises, and going to Germany and Europe. She also enjoyed collecting antiques all her life. She played many games of sheepshead, along with many games of bowling. She also would go deer hunting with her brother, Adrian.
She is survived by five sons, Jan (Bonnie) Schumacher of Fond du Lac, Gayle (Michel) Schumacher of Horicon, Brian (Carla) Schumacher and Chris (Sharon) Schumacher both of Van Dyne, Scott (Roseann) Schumacher of Mt. Calvary; a daughter, Julie (Steve Pfeiffer) Strean of Van Dyne; 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; sister, Cheryl Laude of Sun City Arizona; sisters-in-law, Bessie Laude (Lee) of Berlin, Verna Miller and Sharon (Lee) Warner both of Oshkosh and Jo Ann Willey of North Fond du Lac; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Milton Laude and mother, Viola (Hugh) Williams; an infant son, Donald; two sons-in-law, Terry Teichmiller and Greg Strean; two grandchildren, Eric Schumacher and Emily Ann Schumacher; brother, Adrian Laude; brothers and sisters-in-law; Gaylord (Yvonne) Schumacher; Lyle Schumacher, Orma (Bill) Levenhagen, Eugene Miller, and Mark Willey.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 19, 2026 from 9:30 – 11:30 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 491 Old Oregon Road, Oshkosh. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM on Monday at church. Burial will be in St. John’s Parish Cemetery.
