James E. Diedrich, 86, loving husband of Diane, passed away suddenly on April 7, 2026, at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born on September 25, 1939, in West Allis, Wisconsin, the son of Edward and Dorothea (Norem) Diedrich. He graduated from West Allis Central High School. On October 6, 1962, he married Diane Karls. He worked at Mercury Marine for 37 years.
James spent his childhood summers at the family cottage on Lake Winnebago where he eventually met Diane, the love of his life. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, going to the Indianapolis 500 races, watching NASCAR and the Packers, hunting, especially with his sons in Coloma Wisconsin, watching the birds and deer on the deck, and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up
He is survived by his wife, Diane of over 63 years; daughter, Carrie (Wayne) Freund and their children, Kurt (Traci) Freund and their two boys Kamden and Kole Freund, and Todd (Reilly) Freund, and their children Leighton and Landon Freund; two sons, Paul (Lylah) Diedrich, Robert (Dawn) Diedrich and her children, Alex (Heather) Winkel, Cody (Jenny) Winkel, Paige (Daniel) Scovell, and Parker Entringer. He is further survived by nieces and a nephew; four sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law. He was proceeded in death by his parents; stepmother, Kathren Schmidt; mother and father in-law, Walter and Esther Karls; sister, Joanne (Tom) Francour; brother, Roger (Barbara) Diedrich; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; two nieces; and one nephew. And recently, his beloved cat Scooter.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 4:00 PM. Cremation has taken place. Burial will occur in St. Charles Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to the Holy Family warming shelter.
