Jeannine I. Gyr

Jeannine I. Gyr, age 95, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, April 9, 2026, at St. Francis Home. She was born on July 1, 1930, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Wills) Higley. On May 7, 1948, she married Hans Edward Gyr Jr. in Virginia. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1983. Jeannine then married Carl Schmidt on February 25, 2000, in Fond du Lac, and he died on September 15, 2004. Jeannine worked at Infant Socks. She was very faithful and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and was involved in the Ladies Guild, Sunday school, choir, and Loaves and Fishes. Jeannine loved gardening, camping, crocheting, making crafts, puzzles, and going to her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Survivors include her daughters, Deborah (Allen) Wegner and Rebecca (Todd) Gruenstern; grandchildren, Jason (fiancé Erika Daleiden) Ramirez, Courtney (Daniel) Svoboda, Jessica Wegner, Ashley (Nick) Reis, Dylan Gruenstern, Angela Anderson; great-grandchildren, Sebastian (Sophia) Ramirez, Cole Ramirez, Carter Svoboda, Hayden Svoboda, Sloane and Jude Reis, Caleb and Ava Higgins, Cailey (Nick) Wegner; one great-great-granddaughter, Camila Ramirez; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; one daughter and son-in-law, Heidi (Brian) Anderson; son-in-law, Gregory Ramirez; her sister, Nadine Hill.

Private family services will be held at Hope Lutheran Church and burial will take place at Ledgeview Memorial Park.
