Jeffery D. Sandmayr

July 27, 1962 — March 31, 2026

Jeffery Dean Sandmayr passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, due to multiple sclerosis. Jeff was born on July 27, 1962, in Fond du Lac, WI to Lucille (Narance) and Richard Sandmayr, beloved little brother of Elaine Bublitz and Russell Sandmayr.

Jeff was a lifelong resident of Fond du Lac, attending Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduating from Goodrich High School in 1980. Jeff’s first job was at Petrie’s Restaurant where he took pride in his work and the friendships he made. After graduating from Moraine Park Technical College, Jeff found his calling at Mercury Marine in research and development. He was proud of his contributions towards Mercury Marine outboards, but most importantly of the connections he made with coworkers and interns he mentored.

Jeff was a simple man who loved spending time in nature, whether he was whittling wood and carving stone, or teaching his great nephews how to juggle. Jeff stayed active in his free time with road biking, mountain biking, adventure racing, camping, boating, wind surfing, wake boarding, water skiing, downhill skiing, and playing frisbee. Jeff also loved to share these activities with those who were important to him. Jeff enjoyed countless days camping with his nephew, Scott Bublitz, and Scott’s wife and children, Tracy, Greta, and Niklas, along with close friend Nick Bonnell. Jeff also enjoyed summers on his boat with his niece, Heather Julka, and her husband Steve and their three boys, Sawyer, Campbell, and Crosby.

Jeff loved music and attended countless concerts including amazing performances like Stevie Ray Vaughn’s last show and epic performances by Pink Floyd - aka Purple Harold.

Jeff also loved animals and could be convinced to take in any cat if you just asked him twice. Jeff found his match in Cliff, the stray orange tabby that won his heart and his house. He also loved Ochi, Nick, and Melanie’s doodle, who Jeff excitedly played games of hide the toy with every chance he had.

More than anything, Jeff loved his family. Jeff, with his unmatched sense of humor, was a welcomed staple at every family event. He was always an important part of holidays, birthdays, super bowls, dinners, family bonfires, and weddings where he also acted as a reliable videographer. He could also be counted on to plan the annual family trip to Lakeside Park to see the Fourth of July fireworks with his nieces and nephew. In his final years, when he was unable to leave his home, Jeff’s love for his family persisted as he continually expressed his concern for his loved ones and brought humor to their troubles and found joy in their happiness.

Jeff is survived by his mother, Lucille; siblings, Elaine and Russell; a beloved nephew and nieces, and multiple cherished great nieces and nephews. Jeff was proceeded in death by his father, Richard; niece, Sarah Sanders; friend, Nick Bonnell; and Cliff and Ochi.

Special thanks to Whitney Wood, Jeff’s primary caregiver, for bringing Jeff kindness and humor in the years he needed it most, Travis Hughes for his loyal friendship to Jeff until his final hours, nieces Laura Young and Shelley Niemier, nephew-in-laws Steve Julka and Justin Young, great niece Alayna Mason, and great nephews Sawyer Julka and Alijah Bublitz, and the staff at Theda and Elizabeth Residence for caring for “Uncle Jeff.”
