Jerome Edward Schommer, affectionately known as "Jake" passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, surrounded by members of his family. Jake was born on May 4, 1940, to Louis and Joanna Schommer. Jake was married Margaret on October 10, 1959 recently celebrating 66 years of marriage! Jake spent most of his life in Fond du Lac, WI. He was known for his humor, enthusiasm for life and his deep devotion to his family and community.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: John, James, and brother and sister in laws; Patricia Schommer; Eugene and Beatrice Wiegelt, Bernard and Marjorie Guldan, Roland Guldan and Kathleen Rady. He is survived by William and Ruth Schommer, Catherine and Richard Mackey, Ted Rady, and Mary and Daniel Malcore.

Jake's legacy lives on through his wife, Margaret, with whom he built a lifetime of shared dreams and love.

Together, they raised a great family; Janet and Dave Bauer, Christopher and Debbie Schommer, Paul and Candy Schommer, Matthew and Amy Schommer, Steven and Katie Schommer, and Timothy Schommer.

A proud husband, devoted father, and adoring grandfather and great grandfather. His joy was multiplied by his cherished grandchildren: Kelly, Andrew and Alyssa, Matt, Joanna, Peter, Beau, Taylor, Sebastian, Ashley & Andrew, Brianna & Jarod, Braden, Carley, Ethan, and Hayden. Jake has five great grandchildren Gedeon, Leo, Kira, Logan and Lydia. Their laughter and milestones brought immense joy and happiness to his life.

He started Jake Schommer Electric with Margaret by his side. With dedication and hard work, it became a great business. Margaret was a huge part of their success, keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.

All their dedication provided a wonderful life and a loving home for their six kids. Their house in Fond du Lac wasn't just a place to live; it was a lively home filled with memories from their journey and all their achievements.

Jake found immense solace and joy in their cottage in Coloma, WI. This rural retreat became a sanctuary for the Schommer family where many memories were created.

Jake spent countless time in spirited and competitive games of cribbage with Margaret which filled their home with laughter. He embarked on his first painting class upon retirement, embracing a new artistic adventure with enthusiasm. Jakes artistic side found expression through photography and painting. He had a keen interest in history, evident in his collection of fossils and Native American Indian artifacts. Jake found immense pleasure in hunting with his family, an activity that strengthened their bonds and created lasting tales.

Jake was an active and engaged member of the Fond du Lac community, belonging to Sacred Heart Parish where he was Fourth degree Knight Knights of Columbus and a founding member of the Fond do Lac chapter of the National Turkey federation.

The world has lost a truly wonderful man in Jake. His legacy will resonate through the cherished memories held by everyone who is fortunate enough to have known him. Jake had an extraordinary capacity to love life; genuinely connecting with everyone he encountered. His infectious humor, vibrant personality filled every room with laughter and love.

The visitation will held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 11:00AM – 1:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.

As lover of wildflowers, memorials can be made to Fond du Lac park department in lieu of flowers.
