Jerome Ogden Streetar, 92, formerly a 42-year resident of North Fond du Lac, entered eternal life on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
Jerry was born in Trout Lake, Minnesota on September 21, 1934, the son of Joe and Olga Streetar. After graduating Grand Rapids High School in Minnesota, he attended junior college before enlisting in the United States Navy for 2 years, learning to fly as a Naval Cadet in the T-28 Trojan. He returned to college in Duluth, where he met a beautiful nurse, Maydell Weigel, and they married in 1960. They initially lived in Minnesota before moving to Wisconsin, living in Green Bay and then North Fond du Lac. While living in North Fond du Lac, Jerry and May raised their family.
Jerry was involved with many organizations: The Jaycee’s, the Knights of Columbus and the NFDL Optimist’s club where he served as president. After the passing of his first wife, he married Rosalie Rice after reconnecting with her at a high school class reunion. They became involved with their church, reaching out to the home bound. Jerry enjoyed traveling with his sons, Kevin and Mike, making pilgrimages - including New York City (to see the aircraft carrier/museum on which he served while in the Navy), visiting his childhood home with his granddaughters, the Air Force Museum in Ohio, the only ever “Gathering of Mustangs,” many car shows and Experimental Aircraft Association events (where he also volunteered for many years).
He is survived by his two sons and their families, Kevin (Joan) Streetar and their daughters, Alica (Adam) Padilla and Abby Streetar, and great-granddaughter, Lucy May Padilla; Mike (Jan) Streetar, and their daughter, Samantha Streetar; and Jerome’s daughter, Mary (Mike) Rantala and their sons Trent (Becky) Rantala and Ryan (Kaycee) Rantala, and great-granddaughters, Lola Rantala and Ila Rantala.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Olga Streetar; wives, Maydell Rose, and Rosalie May; brothers Bill Streetar, and Terry Streetar; and his sister, Joanie Schulz.
The family will host a celebration of life with military funeral honors to be rendered, at a later date.
