Joan C. Kleinfeldt, 83, of Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at The Manor at the Meadows. She was born September 10, 1942 in Washington DC, the daughter of Peter and Ann (Schuppe) Kaiser. Her family returned to Fond du Lac when Joan was eight years old.
After graduation from WLA she worked for the Sharpe Clinic. On August 31, 1963 she married Richard C. Kleinfeldt and moved to Madison where she worked at the Dean Clinic. They returned to Fond du Lac to raise their family. When her children started school Joan worked as a teacher’s aide with the Title I program in the Fond du Lac Public School District. She retired in 1991 to help care for her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren.
She was a lifelong member of Hope Lutheran Church. She volunteered for Loaves and Fishes, New Beginnings, and at Rienzi Cemetery. She enjoyed bowling, golf, gardening and yardwork, traveling, spending time at their cottage on Pearl Lake, jigsaw puzzles, reading, and cross stitch. She was also a collector of Department 56 Snow Village pieces. Joan especially loved and cherished the time she had with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; three children, Barb (Tim) Olig, Susan Stone, and Jim (Jodi) Kleinfeldt; six grandchildren, Mike (Shay) Olig, Kate (Tyler) McArthur, Bryan Olig, Hillary Schneider, Cameron and Veronica Kleinfeldt; five great grandchildren, Mari, Hallie and Ellary Olig, Barrett and Charlie McArthur; her sister, Shirley Jones; sister-in-law, Carol Kleinfeldt; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers-in-law, David Jones and Robert Kleinfeldt.
The visitation will be held Monday, October 13, 2025 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent Street in Fond du Lac. The funeral service will follow on Monday at 11:00 AM at church. Burial will follow in Rienzi Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Hope Lutheran Church or The Manor at the Meadows in Joan’s name.
The family extends a special thank you to Joan and Richard’s caretaker, Jenny; the staff at The Manor at the Meadows and staff of SSM Hospice for their care and compassion given to Joan and her family.
