Joanne Laura Braun

Joanne L. Braun, 63, died December 10, 2015 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. She was born in Fond du Lac on March 22, 1952, a daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Michels) Braun. She spent the first few years of her life in St. Peter. Blind since birth, she attended the Wisconsin School for the Visually Handicapped in Janesville. After graduation, she attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo., receiving her master’s degree in music. She was a music teacher in Sheboygan for a few years and then moved to Milwaukee, working as a secretary/clerical worker. Due to health reasons, she retired at a young age and lived the majority of her life in West Allis.



She is survived by 3 brothers; David Braun of Sheboygan, James “Oscar” Braun of Beaver Dam and Richard (Joan) Braun of Mt. Calvary; a sister, Dorothy Bechlem of Malone; and 1 sister-in-law, Ann Braun of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Thomas Braun; a sister-in-law, Germaine Braun; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Bechlem.



Visitation for Joanne will be held from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. Cremation has taken place. Burial will occur at a later date.



In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to be used for contributions to organizations, such as the Center for Deaf-Blind Persons of Milwaukee and the St. Peter Lions Club.



A special thanks from the family to the St. Peter Lions Club and the Winnebago East Shore Lions Club, for helping Joanne over the years. In addition, the family would like to thank ALL of the staff at the following locations (they lovingly cared for Joanne during her short stay in Fond du Lac); Lakeland Care District, Tarfa Terrace, DaVita Dialysis, Fond du Lac Lutheran Home and Agnesian Hospice Hope.
