John E. Kohlmann

John E. Kohlmann, 97, of Fond du Lac, died peacefully at home, Thursday, June 18, 2026. He was born July 31, 1928, in Fond du Lac, WI to Edwin J. and Leola (Corcoran) Kohlmann. On August 3, 1959, he married Geraldine “Gerry” Treffert in Waukegan, IL.

John proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 and was a volunteer fire fighter with the Town of Fond du Lac fire department for many years. John was employed as a mechanic at Anderson’s Garage for most of his working career.

He is survived by his wife, Gerry; his children, Peggy (Chris) Schmehil, Deborah (Derek Parsons) Kohlmann, and Ed (Tanya Wotnoske) Kohlmann; two grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; his sister, Patricia Streeter; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tom Treffert, Bill (Sam) Treffert, Barb (Chuck) Haessly, Kathleen Treffert, and Linda Treffert; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Victor and Mabel Treffert; sister, Betty Riggs; sister and brothers-in-law, Bill Streeter, Bob Riggs, Patricia (Dave) Wagner, and Dick Treffert.

The visitation will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests casual dress while attending. Entombment with military honors will follow at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank SSM Hospice and great granddaughter, Kia for allowing John to remain in his home. And a big thank you to Don and Mary Gorske for all the help and support over the years.
