Joseph Thomas Bisenius, 75, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at his residence. He was born on February 1, 1949, in Fond du Lac, the son of Gerald and Elinor (Utter) Bisenius. Joe was a member of the St. Mary Spring High School class of 1967. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from February 1968 until December 1971. On July 25, 1970, he married Katherine Olson at St. Mary’s Church in Fond du Lac. Joe enjoyed working for the railroad industry for 37 years until his retirement in 2009. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed golfing and accomplished four hole-in-ones, he was a speed walker with multiple 1st place finishes, and enjoyed attending Badger Football games. He was always walking his faithful furry companion, Bucky. He will be loved and missed by all. “I’ve been having dreams, where you’re next to me. You don’t try to leave. You just keep me company.” 

 

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; two sons, Charles (Catlina) and Patrick (Jen); five grandchildren, Chloe, Matthew, Thomas, Emily, and Milo; brother, Nicholas (Jean) Bisenius; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tom and Bev Hierl (Olson family in-laws), William (Barb), Mary (Frank), Barbara (Mark), Robert, Chris (Mike), John (Jill), and Jim (Leslie); the favorite son-in-law of, Helen Olson; and all his favorite nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Elinor; father-in-law, Walter Olson; granddaughter, Katie; siblings, Mary Sue Hierl and Albert Bisenius; and brother-in-law, Richard.

 

A private family service will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be held at St. Charles Cemetery in Fond du Lac.

 

In lieu of flowers, donation in Joe’s memory can be made to the Boys and Girls club of Fond du Lac or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. 

 

The family would like to extend a thank you to Dr. Udlis, Dr. Tolay, Dr. Hinkamp, Dr. Troicki, and their staff, as well as the SSM nurses and doctors for their compassionate care for Joe.
