June Marie Schaetzel

June 17, 1929 — June 14, 2026

Fond du Lac

June Marie Schaetzel, 96, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Manor at the Meadows in Fond du Lac. Born June 17, 1929, in Shawano to Arnold “Chief” and Flora (Martens) Albertz, “Aunie” as she was affectionally called by her family, was the 7th of 10 children. She was a 1947 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. Married at nineteen, June would go on to raise a family, help build a business that would one day grow beyond Wisconsin, travel the world, and spend as much time with her daughters and grandsons as possible. She had a major role in helping to raise both boys.

June was a volunteer at St. Agnes Hospital for many years, a proud LOFF (Ladies Out For Fun) member, a longtime member of the Fond du Lac Noon Optimist, and a member of Church of Our Saviour Ev. Lutheran for close to 70 years. She enjoyed sewing, coloring, bird watching…especially Cardinals, gardening, ball room dancing, and traveling.

June is survived by her daughters, Sandra Uecker, and Karen Pfeiffer, both of Corral De Tierra, CA; grandsons, Lee (Lisa) Uecker of Fond du Lac, and Drew Pfeiffer of Palo Alto, CA; three great-granddaughters, HannahLee Uecker of Orlando, FL, Adalyn, and Gracelyn Uecker, both of Fond du Lac; a sister, Elaine Lamb, sister-in-law, Sally Albertz, and a brother-in-law, Wayne Kaiser, all of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, and a few close friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Schaetzel; siblings, Arnold (Lorraine) Albertz, Milton Albertz, Doris (Ernest) Roberts, Lois (Lester) Schwartz, Lincoln “Linc” Albertz, Lorraine (Fred “Fritz”) Bender, Ruth “Tootie” Albertz, and Evelyn Schneider; brother-in-law, Ken Lamb; many nieces and nephews; her long-time companion, Floyd Meyer; and Leroy Schaetzel, her husband of 38 years.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Monday, June 22, 2026, at Church of Our Saviour Ev. Lutheran, 363 South Main Street in Fond du Lac with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM. Cremation will follow the services with a private committal service scheduled for July.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation which June supported to honor the memory of her son.

Our family is forever grateful to Kathy Hilbert. Kathy, thank you for taking such great care of June these past few years. She loved you.

Summarizing 96 years well lived is not conducive to an obituary. So here it is:

Soft-spoken, wise, and unconditional with her love, June embodied what it means to fully live life, laying the foundation for the generations of her family that would follow. We have lost the matriarch and it will never be the same. We’re thankful for the many years, the laughs, the lessons, the difficult seasons in life, and throughout it all, for the calm, solid woman that June was.

Services are in the care of Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 North Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Additional information and guestbook can be found at ueckerwitt.com
