Kathleen Bertram Butz, 85, of New Lisbon, died Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. She was born November 25, 1940 in Marytown, the daughter of Raymond and Valeria (Julka) Roehrig. Kathleen graduated from New Holstein High School in 1958 and from St. Agnes School of Nursing in 1961.
On October 3, 1961 she married Francis (Bert) Bertram in Marytown and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1994. Kathleen married Wayne Butz in Johnsburg on December 23, 1995 and he preceded her in death on June 3, 2023.
Kathleen worked as a registered nurse at several nursing homes in the Fond du Lac area, Taycheedah Correctional Institution and ended her career as a home hospice nurse in the Mauston area. She enjoyed golfing, gambling, playing the accordion and harp, singing, painting ceramics, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, Manhattans, and traveling. She was a member of the Saint John the Baptist Church Choir for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mauston.
She is survived by her five children, Annette “Nettie” Jenkins, Paula (Michael) Morgen, Lloyd (Michelle) Bertram, Kurt (Kelly) Bertram, and Eric (Becky Guseck) Bertram; eight grandchildren, John “JJ” (Becky) Jenkins, Nathan “Nate” (Julia Schlau) Jenkins, Bradley (Hazel) Morgen, Makenzie Morgen, Collin (Jessica) Bertram, Zachary (Julia Freuck) Bertram, Kruz Bertram, and Rylee Bertram; great grandchildren, Annabelle, Isabelle “Izzy”, Owen, Rowan, Nora, Ruby, Francis “Franky”, and Wren; her brother, Arthur Roehrig; two step children, Kelly (Steve) Krummel and Gregg Butz; her cat, Tommy; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bert and Wayne; and granddaughter, Danielle Morgen.
The visitation will be held Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 2:30 – 5:30 PM at Saint John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday at 5:30 PM at church. Cremation will follow the traditional services and burial will be held at a later date in Saint John the Baptist Cemetery.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Cherry Meadows Hospice for the care and compassion given to Kathleen during her stay.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Center for Deaf-Blind Persons for the family to donate in Kathleen’s name.
