Kathryn A. Hackbarth, 89, of Van Dyne, died Saturday, November 29, 2025, at SSM’s Hospice Home of Hope. She was born in Oshkosh on February 8, 1936, to Armin and Julia (Helm) Konrad. On February 10, 1956, she married Forrest Hackbarth in Oshkosh. He preceded Kathryn in death on November 17, 2017.
Kathryn loved bowling. She was a long-time Lioness of the Van Dyne Lions Club, and a faithful member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Kathryn enjoyed cooking, and baking, and making sure her family was well taken care of.
Survivors include her eight children, Sandy Pommerening, Doug (Lori) Hackbarth, Karen (Jay) Gilgenbach, Don (Vicki) Hackbarth, Janet Hackbarth, Joan Badtke, Mary Luebke, and Keith Hackbarth; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; her sister, Joy Hemmer; sisters-in-law, Margot Konrad, and Judy Konrad; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. In addition to her parents and husband, Kathryn was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Terry Lamb, and Randy Pommerening; two brothers, Dave Konrad, and Richard (Lynn) Konrad; and a brother-in-law, Joe Hemmer.
Visitation for Kathryn will be held from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Friday, December 12, 2025, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 606 Forest Ave, in Fond du Lac. The funeral service will follow at church, beginning at 5:00 PM. Private family burial will take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Van Dyne.
