Ken Bakke

October 7, 1935 — May 23, 2024

Ken Bakke born October 7, 1935 in Black River Falls, WI in his grandmother's living room to Edwin and Aleda (Thompson) Bakke died May 23, 2024.  He was baptized in Desoto, WI, attended Alma Center High School until 1952 when the family moved to Shawano, WI where he graduated in 1953.  After which he joined the Navy and served as a Radioman (Morse code Operator) on the USS General G.M. Randall, where he made several trips delivering troops to Korea. Later his ship was relocated to the Atlantic where he made regular trips to England Germany, Italy, Greece, Libya, and Morrocco.  After leaving the Navy he worked for IBM until he retired in 1992.

 

Ken was married to Leora Buchholz in 1952 and had two sons, Dale and Brian.  Ken sang with the Friesland Community Men’s Chorus and Barbershoppers for 17 years in the Fond du Lac area.

 

Ken was preceded in death by his father, Edwin and mother, Aleda. He is survived by his two sons, Dale and Brian; his granddaughter, Geneva; and his great granddaughter, Abby; Becki Skeels his stepdaughter and her children, Amber, Anna, and Angie.

 

Ken was known for his quirky sense of humor and his generosity.

 

The visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.  The memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.   Military honors will follow the service.
