Kirk B. Thew

Kirk B. Thew, 59, was called to eternal rest on Friday, February 13, 2026 at St. Agnes Hospital with his family by his side. He was born March 22, 1966, the son of Richard and Darlene Thew.

Kirk graduated from high school in 1984. He was employed by M.C.C. Brick & Supply for 20 years as a cement mixer driver.

On June 28, 1997 he married Stacey Zellmer at Salem Eldorado United Methodist Church. This year they would be celebrating 29 years of marriage. They would raise two amazing children and then get the highest honor of all, and that was to be called grandpa. Kirk was so very proud of his family.

Kirk is survived by his wife, Stacey; daughter, Katie Schrank; son, Kevin Thew; grandson, Ethan Thew; sisters, Diane (Dennis) Waterman, Linette (Ronnie) Backhaus, and Jackie (Roger) Freund; brothers, Dean (Nancy) Thew and Dick (Judy) Thew; sister-in-law, Shelley (David) Achterberg; brother-in-law, David (Nicole) Zellmer; several nieces and nephews; his dogs who miss him, Buster, George, and Max. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wendy Manderle and Carol Roberts; brother, Mike Thew.

As sung on our wedding day surrounded by our children, nieces and nephews, was the Barney song, I Love You – You Love Me. We really were a big happy family. Thank you for giving us the best years of our lives filled with laughter and love.

The family would like to thank the St. Agnes ICU nurses and doctors for their amazing care and friends Ron Pomplin, Jim Schumacher, Beth Tenner, and David Achterberg for everything he has done for this family.

The visitation will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 12:00 – 4:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow at 4:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place.

Kirk, I love you... today...tomorrow...always. All of our dreams of life on the farm are now gone in the blink of an eye. Wonder woman cannot function without her superman... the love of her life.
