LaDonna Alice (Petersen) Schwecke passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. She was born on March 19, 1933, on the farm near Essig, MN. Her parents were Albert and Evelyn (Orth) Petersen. She was born again and brought into Christ’s kingdom through the power of Holy Baptism on April 9, 1933, at Zion Lutheran Church in Essig, MN. She declared her faith in Christ in the ceremony of Confirmation on April 14, 1946, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, MN. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Grade School, and graduated from Martin Luther High School and College and then went to the College of Medical Technology to become an x-ray technician. LaDonna worked at Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall, MN and the Vogel Clinic in New Ulm, MN until her time of marriage.
LaDonna was married to Floyd Schwecke on June 10, 1952, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Town of Moltke, Gibbon, MN. The Lord blessed their marriage with five children, Suzanne (Mark) Prowatzke, Robert (Donna) Schwecke, Julie (Mike) Nolan, Timothy (Julie) Schwecke, Peter (Lori) Schwecke; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Marian Grams; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Linda Gigstead; two brothers-in-law, Dan Gigstead and Herbert Grams.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 605 Highland Ave, Brownsville, WI, 53006. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the church at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Brownsville, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1600 S. Main St, Fond du Lac, WI, 54937 or to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 605 Highland Ave, Brownsville, WI, 53006.
