Lillian Marie "Lil" (Spencer) Liebert, 84, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at SSM Health’s Hospice Home of Hope. Born in Wauwatosa on August 6, 1941, she was the only child of mother, Faith Mitchell. Lil was preceded in death by her mother. She is survived by her son, Michael (Ann) Liebert; grandchildren, Zachary Wolf, and Alex Liebert; great-grandchildren, Izabella Wolf, and Izaiah Wolf; her goddaughter, Angie Liner; and many close friends.
Lil graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1959. She was later employed by Grande Cheese Company where she retired after 25 years.
Lil enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In her younger years, you could often find her camping at her permanent campsite on the weekends. She also enjoyed playing games and cards. Her favorites were cribbage, sheepshead, and hand & foot. She was so sharp at sheepshead, that her nickname became “The Shark!”
Lil enjoyed sports, having bowled in her younger years. She was an exceptional bowler, having bowled a 603 series. She also enjoyed watching the Packers and listening to baseball games on the radio.
Lil was an active volunteer with the Salvation Army throughout her adult life, while her health allowed. One might wonder that if having been born at the Salvation Army Hospital played a role in her acts of kindness, humbleness, and dedication, not only to the Salvation Army, but within her community and people she encountered.
Lil was active in the Fond du Lac Fraternal Order of Eagles #270, having been a member since 1987. She served as the F.O.E. Auxiliary Madam State President from 2009-2010. She also earned other achievements and positions within the F.O.E, with her most recent position being the Honorary Grandmother from 2025 to her passing.
Lil was a devoted Christian who attended Edgewood Community Church and strived to be closer to God. She enjoyed attending Bible studies both within friend’s homes and in the community. You could often find her meeting with friends and drinking Chai at ReachOut Books & Solid Grounds Coffee Shoppe. It brings the family and her friends peace knowing that she is now in her eternal home.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home, beginning at 6:00 PM. Cremation has taken place.
