LORETTA G. CARTERLoretta G. Carter, age 90, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton of congestive heart failure. Her devoted family was at her bedside when she completed her worldly journey of 96 years to start her eternal life with her beloved Lord. She will celebrate her 97th birthday in heaven. The former Loretta Schaefer was born to this world on a fall day, November 9, 1907 to Frank Schaefer and Josephine Cook in St. Cloud, WI. She was the youngest family member and last surviving sibling of thirteen brothers and sisters. On April 21, 1925 Loretta married Charles Carter in Waukegan, IL. The couple had two children, Virginia Klaske and Homer Carter and went on to celebrate fifty years together in 1975. After marriage, the couple moved to Fond du Lac where Loretta lived the majority of her life. She worked at the Bonita Candy Factory, Wells Manufacturing and lastly at Northern Casket where she retired after twenty years of service. Two years ago, Loretta moved to Appleton where she was a resident of Franciscan Care Nursing Home.Loretta loved sewing, cooking, dancing, and the chance to do things for others. Her life revolved around her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was family renowned for her great pies and buckets of holiday cookies. She will be deeply and sadly missed by family and friends. We will especially miss her smile, "Grandma hugs", perseverance and sense of humor. Loretta is survived by a son, Homer Carter of Menasha. She is further survived by six grandchildren, Charles (Sandy) Carter, Sherry (Steve) Brajdic, Renee (Mark) Winter, Vicky (Gary) Carley, Lynn (Steve) Kimpel and nine great-grandchildren, Jeff and Angela Carter, Steve, Michael, and Billie Brajdic, Nathan and Adam Winter, and Cole and Jacy Klaske. Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and daughter Virginia Klaske, nine brothers, Tom, Nick, William, Casper, Henry, Alex, Erwin, Leo, and Carley, and four sisters, Mary, Elizabeth, Lucille, and Adelle.



VISITATION: Saturday, October 16, 2004 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. at Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Church, Fond du Lac. FUNERAL: Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Church with the Reverend Victor Capriolo officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Franciscan Care Nursing Home for their compassionate care of our beloved mother and grandmother over the past two years; also a thank you to the 4th floor medical and nursing staff at Appleton Medical Center who made Loretta's transition to eternity so comfortable.
