Martin "Marty" E. Kraus

Martin “Marty” E. Kraus, 97, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Country Villa, Little Chute, WI. He was born on July 22, 1925, in Taycheedah, the son of John and Elizabeth (Schneider) Kraus. Marty served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On June 14, 1949, he married Jane Ditter at St. John’s the Baptist Church, Johnsburg, WI. Marty worked at Gidding and Lewis for 35 years until his retirement in 1987. Marty was a lifetime member of Wescot Gun Club (past director) and was a member of Holy Family Parish for over 60 years. In his spare time, Marty enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering, and being the neighborhood Mr.-fix-it.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Jane; daughter, Linda (Richard) Schrage; grandson, Travis Schrage; granddaughter, Cassidy Evers; great-granddaughter, Gwyenith Evers; daughter-in-law, Linda Kraus and her children, Todd (Janice) Thornton and Tammy Thornton, and her son, Joshua (Ellen) Thornton and their daughter, Eva; sister-in-law; Lorraine Havey; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Kraus; four brothers, Bruno (Lillian) and (Elvira), Gregor (Catherine), Leander, and Eddie (Mary) Kraus; sister, Esther (Lyle Pitzen) and(Mel) Halbach; and infant brother, Joseph.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac, WI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 AM at church. Entombment will follow the service at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors to follow.
